Ken Camden opened the show, followed by Benoît Pioulard then A Winged Victory For The Sullen.
The show was a big surprise. I didn't know what to expect because I had no idea who Ken Camden was and I was pretty new to A Winged Victory For The Sullen. But it was quite a pleasant surprise! Ken Camden's music is really unique and may take a while to get used to, but his process was interesting to watch. A lot of intrigued people checked out his equipment right after his set. A Winged Victory For The Sullen reminded me so much of Ólafur Arnalds. Their music both have this delicate and sensitive sound that's touching to experience live. AWVFTS has a more gothic feel to their songs though, but I really enjoyed their set.
Of course, the main reason I was there was to watch Benoît Pioulard who, as you may already know, is one of my absolute favorites. I wanted to personally thank him for doing Spaces. It was amazing to see him recreate songs I've listened to on my iPod over and over again. He played a couple of songs from his Lyon EP like "Arrow Drawn" and "I walked into the blackness & built a fire". For his last song, he played one of my favorites, "A Coin on the Tongue" from the album Lasted which I have a video for and will show you guys later. Anyway, you get the idea, right? It was pretty fantastic!
