So, my friend Marb and I went to see Ólafur Arnalds perform live tonight. We both happen to love instrumental/ambient/post-rock music and this gig was perfect! George Sarah and the Strings opened. It was my first time to hear their music and it was pretty cool.
Anyway, I used one of Ólafur Arnalds' songs on my final film for NYFA and he performed it as his encore song. I just wanted to cry. It was quite an emotional experience hearing his songs performed live. The lights were coordinated and the visuals projected on the background enhanced the storytelling even more. They all fit together so perfectly. Ólafur Arnalds was also very witty and cute on stage. He had some minor technical difficulties, but he handled it really well. Also, he revealed that one of my favorite songs of his (and his most popular song according to him), Ljósið, was written about bathtubs.
This is probably the best show I've seen so far (after Sufjan's, of course). Amazing, amazing. <3
