Happy New Year!

How did you welcome 2010?

I can't remember what we used to do every New Year. I think now we just stay home and rest our big tummies after days of eating nonstop. That's what the Holidays mostly mean to me - LOTS OF FOOD. We prepare lots of food for Christmas and even more food for New Year! Ohmy.

This year, however, my mom, sister, aunt and I spent the first day of the year at a wonderful...

What was the mall made for in the first place? When I was younger, whenever my parents would tell us that we wee going to the mall, I'd think of food and toys. Now, I go to different malls and I see different kinds of people doing all sorts of things. I guess it depends on where the mall is. I have a list of malls that I enjoy going to. I chose these based on the following: shops, restaurants, location, and overall vibe.

  1. Powerplant Mall - I enjoy walking around here because of its calm and quiet atmosphere. Not too many people go during weekdays and you get to walk around in peace. I watched a movie alone for the first time in my life here and it was such a pleasant experience. There were only about 6 people in the theater. Then after a movie or after I go window shopping, I'd go to Fully Booked and immerse myself in books for hours. I really like hanging out in a bookstore for some reason. I think a lot of people do.
  2. Greenbelt 5 - It's probably because it's new and still not as crowded as the other Greenbelt and Glorietta malls or maybe it's because of the unique stores and restaurants that they have. There's a floor dedicated to Filipino designers which is a nice change although they're not affordable if you're like me (a student who's just trying to pass time). There's also a good selection of new restaurants to try like Padre Damaso, John & Yoko (I LOVE THIS PLACE) among others.
  3. Bonifacio High Street - Okay, I know this isn't a mall but it's technically one already with the usual stores, coffee shops and restaurants. What sets it apart though is it's wide, open space. It also happens to be pet friendly which I love because I get to bring my dog with me.

The mall that I absolutely hate going to is Mall of Asia. Seriously. It's too big, too crowded, too confusing! I get lost every single time I go there. So if it's just me all by myself, I prefer going to the three places I mentioned above. They're friendly for those who aren't planning to shop but is just there to hang out and pass time.
